A short real horror experience about a quiz that slowly stops being a quiz and becoming a real virus.

What you're walking into

• A quiz that turns on you — your own answers get used against you.
• Analog / VHS horror — grain, rolling tracking, and a half-seen figure in the static.
• It knows your name — read live from your PC for one cold moment.
• Layered lo-fi audio — a low drone, tape hiss, and one sound you'll feel.
• ~2 minutes — one sitting. One breath you won't take.

⚠️ Content warning

Sudden loud audio, jump scares, and flashing / strobing lights (photosensitivity risk). Not recommended for young children or anyone sensitive to flashing imagery.

How it works & your safety

MINDCHECK is a lightweight Windows virus (a script + HTML), and the full source is included in the download — open it in Notepad and read exactly what it does. Nothing is hidden. Make sure to use Virtual Machine to run it.

What it does: reads your Windows username locally for one story moment (it never leaves your PC), plays generated ambient audio through a hidden PowerShell window, and places one small, and at the end your VM is not going to be usable (deleting system32)

PLAY ON VIRTUAL MACHINE!

What it does NOT do: it does delete or damage any files (the “deleting files” moment is REAL) play it on your PC, Alt+F4 always work — press ESC to quit at any time.

Because it opens PowerShell for its audio, your antivirus or SmartScreen may warn you. That's normal for script-based projects — and you should be cautious with scripts in general. This game will delete your internal system so don't just take my word for it: the source ships with the game. Inspect it, then decide.

How to play

1. Unzip the download.
2. Double-click THE_OBSERVER.vbs
3. Click PLAY and answer honestly.
4. Press ESC any time to quit.
